Summary

Our Financial Services group is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our team! This role will support the purchasing team with a variety of duties associated with the sourcing & tactical purchasing in accordance with established Laboratory procurement policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Sourcing
• Analyzes purchasing data to identify opportunities to reduce cost and risks.
• Collaborates as a business advisor with end-user community to prioritize & solidify opportunities to supply chain projects including (but not limited to) sourcing, product standardization, supplier consolidation, inventory optimization and procurement automation projects.
• Works with Sr. Procurement Manager to develop sourcing, build cross-functional consensus for sourcing execution, lead sourcing initiatives (RFP/RFQ/RFI), evaluate bid responses, and participate in supplier selection & contract negotiation.
• Implements TCO cost savings programs and monitor program compliance.
• Coordinates with Purchasing Specialists/Buyers to maintain and update pricing in the system and prepare routine reports to track TCO savings.
• Assists the development of a robust Preferred Supplier Program as well as Supplier Diversity Program that complies with government regulations. Works closely with IT and Sr. Buyer to bring Preferred Suppliers and key diversity suppliers to Punch-out catalog.

 

Tactical Purchasing
• Reviews purchasing requests and documents received from end users for completeness and accuracy of provided information necessary for the purchasing procedure and to ensure compliance with established Laboratory procurement policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal guidelines. Prioritizes requests. Determines method to process requisition based on cost, time constraints, competitive bidding, following established Laboratory procurement policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal guidelines. Places orders to vendors, confirms prices, availability, and delivery.
• Follows up on purchase orders ensuring that materials and services are delivered on promised dates.
• Interacts with vendors and end users to coordinate, facilitate, and resolve day-to-day procurement issues.
• Provides routine advice and support to end users on procurement process and documentation issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business Management etc.)
• 3 to 5 years of experience in Procurement or related field preferably in higher education/research institution/bio-medical/healthcare industries.
• Understanding of Strategic Sourcing, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), working capital and other financial metrics, as well as basic accounting principles.
• Knowledge of Uniform Guidance Procurement Rules is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of Excel & data management.
• Knowledge and use of eProcurement and eSourcing methodology. Experience with Infor Lawson or similar procurement software is highly desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to effectively work with a wide variety of people and personalities representing both internal customers and external suppliers.
• Ability to motivate others and facilitate team building between business stakeholders. Strong teamwork and collaborative skills, ability to successfully work in a team environment.
• Proven ability to organize time effectively and work under time constraints, meet deadlines and prioritize work.
• Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage details.
• High integrity, self-motivated with the ability to drive change with minimum supervision.


This position is full-time and may require some flexibility in the working hours Monday-Friday.
