Summary

Reporting to the JAX® Mice, Clinical & Research Services (JMCRS) Creative & UX Strategy Lead and taking significant direction from the Senior Marketing Manager and Content Manager, the Digital Designer translates business goals and initiatives into compelling, innovative, and clear digital and motion communications. The Digital Designer will need to be driven to identify and deliver good creative digital design assets, working with the design team to expand and build upon creative concepts and ideas. The Digital Designer will have excellent and current creative and design trend knowledge and skills (from branding identity and package design, digital, to time-based media).

 

The Digital Designer is able to problem solve and must be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is highly organized with ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.  This individual should be comfortable owning projects from start to finish as well as providing direction and guidance to other designers.

 

The Digital Designer will collaborate across JAX, working closely with Strategic Communications and JAX Creative to bring our brand to life using graphic design, typography and digital/interactive design. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure, fast-paced environments and can manage competing priorities to execute and deliver high-quality work to our customers. This individual is self-motivated, takes challenges head on and explores multiple solutions to every problem

 

This position will be an integral part of the JMCRS Marketing team, tasked with providing top-notch marketing solutions that enhance and support the Laboratory’s strategic priorities. Requires independent, creative thinking within the context of established brand standards, willingness to take and measure calculated risks, and operate in a customer-focused environment. Position will have interaction with staff at all levels of the institution, as well as external partners and constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Design interactive digital content from concept to completion including digital advertising, social media, official product sites, email marketing, e-commerce, etc. for screen-based mediums
  • Designing digital content in new and inspired ways that support the brand and key marketing initiatives.
  • Take customer problems and user research insights to design simple, elegant and user-centric experiences
  • Edit live-action videos. This may include testimonials, talking heads, employee interviews, training, and social media videos.
  • Have experience developing work for a variety of platforms and use cases, and is used to thinking how those impact myriad devices, experiences and scenarios. Have an advanced understanding of what makes content engaging and successful across platforms and audiences
  • Collaborate with UX and front-end developers on website enhancement projects.
  • Continue to establish and evolve digital brand guidelines and standards based on industry best practices.
  • Using data, research, and best practices to advocate for design solutions that help the JMCRS deliver a consistent brand message and superior user experience. Providing training, education, and support to design colleagues across JAX.
  • Enhancing and maintaining digital brand standards and design components to reflect strategic goals, benchmarking, user testing, web standards, and digital trends. Exploring, developing, and presenting briefs to advocate for new visual approaches and solutions that deliver a distinctive and visionary digital brand experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Visual Effects or Motion Graphics
  • 3 or more years providing related creative services in a customer-service setting, are required.
  • Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in delivering strategic ideas across digital, social or static form factors.
  • Strong proficiency in all aspects of creating finished projects with Adobe Creative Cloud, working within Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator. Ability to edit video content for multi-platform use and distribution, including online, broadcast and social media channels. Working knowledge of 3D video effects & software such as Cinema 4D
  • Creative thinking, dynamic problem-solving and superior storytelling abilities to ensure careful attention is given to timing, continuity and artistic vision
  • Demonstrated ability to be a positive team player across diverse internal and external organizations
  • Must be a creative, thinking person with the ability to balance the creative with the technical quickly, accurately and efficiently to produce high quality work. Ability to translate established marketing strategies into professional visuals that are consistent with the brand image. Strong organizational, project management and self-directing skills. Ability to take direction and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • An open mind, excellent oral and written communication skills, a keen listening ability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage relationships with a diverse client base and work as part of an integrated team.
