Summary

The Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will oversee the process of compiling and analyzing The Jackson Laboratory’s long-term financial strategy.  Essential tasks include but are not limited to: maintaining a multi-year financial planning model, analyze financial trends and evaluate the impact of expanded services including new research, clinical and other initiatives conducting complex cost/financial modeling analysis.  The position will provide critical financial analysis and strategic planning support. 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Financial Analysis - Serve as key member and leader of the Financial Services team, providing expertise in financial modeling, program planning, and resource allocation for the Laboratory. Prepare and understand financial forecasts.
  • Modeling & Analysis - Maintain and improve long-term financial planning model, including scenario planning, and meaningful dashboards with variance analyses for senior management and the Board.
  • Research Analytics & Business Intelligence - Maintain financial planning database; provide regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis to the Sr. Director, Financial Planning & Budgets, CFO, Executive Vice President & COO, President & CEO, and the Board.
  • Evaluate - New research services and strategic initiatives/alliances impact on the Laboratory’s capital and operating budgets.  Assist with special projects as assigned by the Sr. Director, Financial Planning & Budgets, Chief Financial Officer and senior management.
  • Planning - Play a significant role in budget and forecast preparation and creation.  Works with Sr. Director, Financial Planning & Budgets, Program Directors, Financial Managers, Department Managers or designated budget personnel to assist in coordination of the operating/capital budgets, forecasts and longer term financial strategic planning process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance (C.P.A., C.M.A. or M.B.A. an additional benefit)
  • 7 to 10 years of FP&A experience, including direct financial modeling experience and experience evaluating quantitative impact of new initiatives.
  • Exceptional skills in Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, database applications, skills and various internal business applications and reporting systems experience. Knowledge of financial databases a plus.
  • Experience in supervising or leading a team of financial professionals in a direct or matrix relationship is preferred.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills sufficient for developing complex, dynamic relationship with a diverse variety of individuals representing a broad cross section of cultures, disciplines and levels of sophistications.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal and customer relation skills sufficient to work effectively in a high-profile environment requiring discretion, judgment, tact, diplomacy
