    The Jackson Laboratory is seeking an experienced professional to join the Facilities Maintenance and Operations Team as a Maintenance Mechanic. Maintenance Mechanics perform a variety of skilled preventative and general maintenance, repair, construction and renovation work on faciities and systems throughout the campus Bar Harbor, ME campus.


    • Performs preventative maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on piping and pluming systems including fixtures, bathroom equipment; stam and process hot water systems including control and isolation valves, stam traps, heat exchangers, pumps, and associated equipment including tunnel washers, rack washers, bottle washers, autoclaves, bedding dispensers and drying cabinets, water treatment systems, etc
    • Patricipates in major component replacement and evaluation of complex system problems.
    • Provides general clean up, housekeeping and maintenance of mechanical equipment rooms.
    • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.


    • High School equivalency and 3 years of experience
    • Ability to learn and consistently apply modern precision maintenance techniques for coupled and belt driven equipment
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and ordinances related to facilities plumbing, electrical, and renovation tasks performed
    • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
    • Applicable State licenses such as Plumbing, Elecrical or HVAC will be held in high regard
    • Abiity to read and interpret blueprints and equipment schematics
