  • Summary

    Accountants are working with grants, restricted gifts, endowment income, and institutional projects.  Working under limited supervision, Accountants are primarily responsible for assuring the proper recording of labor distribution, encumbrances, grant expenditures and revenue, indirect cost and benefit rates.  In addition, responsibilities will include performing a wide range of standards to complex professional accounting functions such as financial analysis, account reconciliations, invoicing, collections and preparing journal entries and required financial status and effort reports.  

    Responsibilities

    • Setup and maintain sponsored activities in ERP system
    • Reconcile, balance, and maintain accounting records for sponsored projects
    • Provide financial reports to sponsors
    • Prepare journal entries and review expenses
    • Prepare invoices
    • Review open cash receipts

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or other related subject area
    • 3+ years of successful experience in a role where knowledge of modern accounting theory, methods and practices was the primary focus; ability to learn accounting rules for sponsored programs
    • Knowledge of accounting for federal grants
    • Excellent use of database and spreadsheet software to record and report activities
    • Effective interpersonal skills and professional demeanor while conducting relationships with people representing a variety of levels of sophistication
    • Ability to set priorities, balance different projects and meet deadlines
    • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage details accurately
    • Self-motivated and have the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment, work independently and as part of a team
    • Demonstrated ability to be a positive team player across diverse internal and external organizations
